Clackamas, OR – The Historical Outreach Foundation’s (HOF) Board of Directors are proud to announce that the Oregon Military Museum Project (OMMP) has accepted the challenge of raising funds for the remaining half of the $16M construction and exhibits budget for the Brigadier General James B. Thayer Oregon Military Museum (Museum).

According to a recent statement, the OMMP—initiated by KISS lead guitarist Tommy Thayer, son of the Museum’s namesake—has set a goal “to complete the construction, exhibits and prepare for the future operations of the Oregon Military Museum.”

The HOF began fundraising for the Museum in 2011 and is currently managed by Executive Director Colonel (Ret) Donald F. Bond, who is confident that the OMMP can finish the job. “The OMMP is made up of HOF board members who know exactly what is required to accelerate this project toward completion,” Bond said.

In the spirit of creating a solid working relationship as the key to a smooth transition, HOF Secretary Jerry Lorang stated, “The Board has pledged their support of the OMMP for the Museum’s fundraising efforts. The working relationship between the two entities is viable and strong.”

The HOF will focus its efforts in expanding the Education Program which began in 2009 through teaching the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Annually, more than 5,000 students are inspired by hands-on presentations on Lewis and Clark, Oregon’s Role in WWI and WWII and Civil War in Oregon. Two additional programs the Veterans’ Legacies Project and Oregon’s WWII Memorial will continue to be supported.

The Historical Outreach Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that honors the men and women who have served in the armed forces, and through collaborative efforts and community partnerships, offers a variety of interactive and instructional opportunities to inspire and enlighten through three programs: 1) Education Presentations; 2) Veterans’ Legacies Project; and 3) Oregon WWII Memorial.
